Youth Leadership Academy & Developing Youth Peer Advocates
The Positive Results Center conducts a series of Youth Leadership Development, Peer Advocacy and Financial Empowerment workshops designed for youth and young adults. Each session affirms the critical life skills, resilience, and wisdom participants have already learned and bring with them to the center, while guiding them through the less familiar territory of identifying their personal concerns and the parts of themselves they want to grow, develop, and heal.
Participants are provided with tools and skills necessary to achieve higher levels of success, to use their voice in a meaningful and relevantly way, to be positive leaders who are respected for their social and community contributions, to be responsible and collaborative while building with their Peers and Adult counterparts, and to open their hearts and receive the love and favor that comes with being in service to constructive change.
We train each youth to become peer advocates for upcoming workshops, talks, panels, events and trainings with the hope that they will continue to share the skills and information they’ve learned. Our goal is to develop leaders and thinkers who will promote positive change in their communities and throughout their lives utilizing effective communication, self-awareness and collaborative effort.
Our target participants are 11-14, 15-18, or 19-25; a low-to-no income; at-risk; pregnant / or parenting; prone to violence or has a family history of trauma related violence (gang, gun, domestic or family violence); homeless; in foster care and/or identifies as LGBTQQ.
