SoulCare Oasis: A Healing Retreat for Experiencers / Survivors in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles, CA – September 28, 2025 – On a warm Sunday afternoon, the Positive Results Center (PRC) transformed a 4,500-square-foot garden, the historic Rudolph Valentino House, into a sanctuary of renewal for more than 80 Black and Brown women. Experiencers of dating, domestic, and intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and the providers who serve them were invited to step into SoulCare Oasis, a one-day healing retreat designed to restore peace, dignity, and connection.

A Sacred Pause

“This was not just an event,” said PRC CEO Kandee Lewis. “It was a sacred pause, a space where survivors could take off their mask and simply be.”

“From the moment I walked in, I was surrounded by beautiful souls and the most nurturing energy”, said participant Staciey Smith, “The plant therapy, the incredible massages (foot, back, shoulders, full body!) And Marie Antoinette on the harp? Absolutely transcendent. To be in a room with so many radiant women, all choosing themselves, all embracing healing and joy. My soul is full. My heart is grateful. This is what a community and self-care should feel like.”

Participants were embraced by community and care, and welcome to the spac with complimentary valet service before entering the lush garden setting. Inside, a diverse lineup of practitioners and healers offered culturally rooted modalities of healing, including Reiki, Sound Bowls, Massage Therapy, Art and aromatherapy, Yoga, Mental Health session, Photography and Videography, and Good Vibe.

Healing Through Nature and Sound

One of the most profound experiences came through horticulture therapy, exploring how trauma lives in the body and offered tangible strategies for healing through connection with soil and growth.

The day was crowned by a live performance from world-renowned harpist Mariea Antoinette, whose soothing melodies floated through the garden, amplifying the peace of the outdoor retreat.

Attendee Vanessa said, “As someone who has only left her house for doctors’ appointments and hospital visits for the last five months, I am so happy I did not miss Positive Results Center’s SoulCare Oasis. It was everything I needed. I almost immediately felt washed anew by the incredible atmosphere”.

Attendee W.Z.A. states, “An extraordinary event of renewal that celebrated women with support, deep affection, and food for the body and soul”. Guests dined on a feast complete with desserts and take-home snack boxes for the drive back, small gestures of care designed to carry the healing forward.

Community, Not Isolation

Throughout the afternoon, participants laughed, cried, created, and remembered they were not alone. PRC leaders reminded attendees that healing does not happen in isolation, but in community: when survivors are welcomed without judgment, when their pain is honored, and when tools are offered to restore peace within. Dr. GY states, “When people come to therapy, it’s as if thet are saying ‘I really don’t want to walk home by myself”.

Free and Accessible Healing

SoulCare Oasis was offered entirely free of charge, a commitment rooted in PRC’s belief that “healing should never depend on someone’s ability to pay.”

A Message of Hope
“Together, we are showing experiencers / survivors that their lives matter, their healing matters, and their futures are not defined by trauma. Healing and hope are always more powerful than fear.” By Kandee Lewis, CEO of Positive Results Center
