Reproductive Justice and Maternal Health
At Positive Results Center (PRC), our Reproductive Justice and Maternal Health work centers the wellbeing, safety, and autonomy of Black women, girls, and families. Guided by the principles of reproductive justice, we offer culturally grounded programs that support individuals across the full reproductive life course, from puberty and body literacy to pregnancy, postpartum healing, and parenting. Our approach focuses on improving outcomes for Black mothers by addressing the social, emotional, and structural factors that shape pregnancy and birth experiences. Through education, community dialogue, and healing-centered spaces, we create opportunities for Black mothers and families to share their stories, build support networks, and access information that supports informed decision making. We uplift practices that nurture maternal wellbeing, including rest, joy, community connection, and culturally rooted healing traditions.
We believe strong, healthy communities are built through strong relationships. PRC supports families in cultivating healthy partnerships, co-parenting dynamics, and intergenerational connections that foster stability and healing. Our workshops address consent, healthy relationships, body autonomy, and reproductive health while also exploring the links between trauma, sexual violence prevention, and intimate partner violence. In addition to direct community engagement, we partner with academic institutions, government agencies, and community leaders to help shape policies that impact maternal health and family wellbeing. We center the lived experiences of Black families in this work and equip community members with the tools to advocate for themselves and influence the systems that affect their lives.
