Healing Through Trauma

Healing Trauma through Art, Music, Movement, Journaling, Storytelling and Talk Therapy

Target Audience is Black/African American/Afro Descent people of all ages.

Our Victim / Survivor program, “Healing Through Trauma,” is a weekly Art Based Therapy Program designed around Music, Movement, Journaling / Writing and Nutrition to address the trauma, violence and abuse of youth and young adults who have experienced or been exposed to teen dating violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault or stalking.

Healing Through Trauma works with victims and survivors to move from a point of pain, anger and disappointment so that they can welcome hope, health, healing, joy, self-worth, self-compassion, self-efficacy and forgiveness. By confronting their past trauma in a healthy way, participants will learn to move engage with their pain in a healthy and generative way, effectively communicate their needs and boundaries to feel safe, address, prevent and end the cycles of violence, and engage with their pleasure and desires on their terms. These participants will be encouraged to choose and promote healthy relationships, healing, wholeness and to experience the potential of a positive and rewarding future
